What we teach is not to be used to incite violence. Our focus is fitness and self-defense; not to use these tactics to harm others. When training for a fight, these tactics are only to be used in the octagon or in a gym setting.
Joe's boxing training began in the 1980s with Jimmy Raston (local pro boxer). Joe's always been passionate for the fight game. In 2008, Joe started training under the instruction of Angel Ortiz/Tomma, (Muay Thai, JKD, Boxing, and Kickboxing) where he had his 1st MMA bout. Joe's ground training comes from a versatile background including catch wrestling (Boyd Ritchie), wrestling (Joe Catalano) and Ju Jitsu.
Joe continued his instruction and in 2010 became Head Coach of Muay Thai and Kickboxing at Southtowns MMA.
Joe prides himself on passing on his knowledge to others who are interested in learning how to defend themselves, or to those who want to train for an actual fight.
Jen fell in love with training stand-up MMA in 2007 under the instruction of Angel Ortiz. In 2013 Jen obtained her certification in personal training with the American Fitness Institute. Specializing in boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai, Jen incorporates these disciplines with all of her clients and during the Strike It Fit class because she feels that all women should have some self-defense knowledge.
Jen is motivated by seeing women make personal gains- whether it be weight loss, learning the sport, toning up for an occasion, or living a healthier lifestyle. Jen is passionate about training and believes everyone is capable of pushing themselves to achieve their goals.

After his first 2 MMA bouts, Brandon became fervid about the ground tactics of the sport. Brandon's experience includes training under Billy Tompkins, and Jimmy Ralston (stand up game) and ground instruction with Boyd Ritchie and Primo Luciano. Brandon is very excited about passing on his knowledge to others and to help them in their progression in the sport.
Jill has been an instructor for a year and a half and has been working out at Southtowns MMA for 7 years. When she began coming to the gym, she submerged herself into the fitness world and lost 85 pounds! Jill is dedicated to teaching people new things and helping them to love fitness by teaching them new and fun exercises.
Michele has been working out at Southtowns MMA for 10 years! When she's not at the gym she enjoys running and has been an avid runner for 15 years; completing 4 half marathons! Michele enjoys doing ab workouts, especially incorporating planking! Michele became a class facilitator because she loves motivating people to do their best and help them get into shape.
